Distribution of old clothes and new blankets to needy by DIYA, Hyderabad Team

Dear All,

Here is the update from this event.

Around 10-11 DIYA members have joined for this activity. We went to Papireddy colony (near Lingampally Rly Station) and distributed old clothes and new blankets to 100+ families with the help of MCH Officer Mr. Venkatesh Rao. These families are mainly working for garbage collection in the City. Before distributing clothes Mr. Ramesh has explained (in Telugu) about DIYA moment and spoken how they can improve their life by themselves. Some literature for leading good life written by Pt. Sri Ram Sharma Acharya has been distributed amongst them.

We also spotted couple of volunteers who can run some activities for improving their lifestyle. DIYA members Naveen and Pritam have taken responsibility to follow up with these volunteers and help them running such programs like moral education for children, health awareness etc.

After finishing this activity at 5:00 PM, we headed to visit one of the orphanage "Sankalp" which was really a sankalp (determination) of young sister Rosy who dared to start this orphan home, currently housed 25 childeren. She is also running a school of 150 destitute children. DIYA team talked to sister Rosy and discussed where we can help them. We were moved seeing her daring and commitment to serve the underprivileged in the society.

Many people think to do something for improvement of the society but couldn't do, saying alone can not be done but Rosy is simple example who proves it wrong and shown path for all of such people. DIYA team salutes this young lady and wish her all the best.
